Why Are All the Reality Shows in ATL & Who’s Coming Up With This Content?

So I attempted to watch Braxton Family Values & Cutting It In the ATL last night. I was actually excited about new shows, especially #BFV, because Tamar Braxton is my friend in my head.

I may have watched the first 25 minutes of #BFV and flipped the channel. Or maybe it was 15 minutes? I honestly can’t remember, but for me to willingly turn from one of my favorite reality shows to the NBA playoffs, says a lot. My husband rushed in the room when he heard me watching the game (we only have one television), wondering what was going on. I told him I was bored and would try again when Cutting It In the ATL came on.

Well, I started watching Cutting It In the ATL and even began to live tweet the show. Then I began to wonder “Why are the reality shows in ATL?”. Of course every reality show isn’t filmed in Atlanta, but let’s go down the list:

  • Real Housewives of Atlanta
  • Love & Hip Hop Atlanta
  • Braxton Family Values (Los Angeles & Atlanta)
  • Sorority Sisters (cancelled)
  • Married to Medicine
  • T.I. & Tiny: The Family Hustle

Did I miss any?

Don’t get me wrong. I LOVE me some Atlanta and visit every time I get a chance. However, all of these reality shows filmed in ATL, tends to feel the same while watching. Apparently originality is dead. PSA to networks and producers: there are other cities, with way more interesting characters and stories. Which leads me to my next question?

Who’s coming up with this content? Seriously. Newsflash: PEOPLE ARE NO LONGER IMPRESSED BY THE DRAMA. We’re just not. There once was a time I’d rush home in attempt to see a “fight” that was going to happen on one of these reality shows, but these days? Not so much. Actually, not at all. People want to be inspired nowadays. We’ve had enough of the hair pulling, back biting, and negative images of Black women. Can we highlight the college girls, entrepreneurs, engaged couples, married couples, family reunions, bloggers, etc.? This list could go on FOREVER.

But instead, ya’ll keep doing the same ole, same ole, in the same ole city. Better tap in.

    LOL! It’s a conspiracy!!
I was once a big fan of Tamar’s and BFV. After attending a concert she gave in Chicago at Concord, I’m not sure she’s for me. Still playing the Love and War album on repeat though!

What do you think?
