Pray for Baltimore… And then what?

by Tuesday, April 28, 2015

And here it comes again. Feelings. These feelings. These feelings I’ve come to love and hate. Just an FYI, this post will consist of a bunch of rambling, because my thoughts along with my emotions are literally everywhere.

Today was Freddie Gray’s funeral. If you don’t know who Freddie Gray is, please open a new tab and Google his name. And again, we’ve had to say goodbye to another Black man who has died at the hands of the police. The very same police whose job is to “protect and serve”.

At this very moment the city of Baltimore is in an uproar and I don’t blame them. Why?

“A riot is the language of the unheard.” -Dr. King-

However, I’m still baffled as to why we (Black people) are destroying our OWN community. That is not the answer.

On the other hand, a lot of people have been saying “Pray for Baltimore”. Ya’ll know I’m a Christian and prayer is a HUGE part of my life, however, what happens AFTER we’re done praying. We need change. Immediate results. Tangible evidence of it being a new day for Black men in America. A day where their lives will actually matter.

I’m tired, but never too tired to raise my voice for justice.

Lest we forget…
