Ever finished a book with tears in your eyes? This is exactly what happened to me as I finished A Piece of Cake by Cupcake Brown. I was at the shop getting my hair done, and… I wasn’t ready. I wasn’t’ expecting I’ll be holding back tears as my stylist blow dried my hair. I mean, it was just THAT powerful.

Since I’m always up for a good read, I started A Piece of Cake immediately after I finished Americanah by Chimimanda Ngozi. I literally could not put A Piece of Cake down. Cupcake’s story is so intriguing that it’s almost hard to believe  all of this happened to one person, but it did.

After I finished I was compelled to email Miss Cupcake and let her know how much her story inspired me. That’s how much it touched me.

In need of inspiration or encouragement? TRUST ME, you need to read A Piece of Cake. Thank me later :)

Have you read a good book lately? I’m always looking to add to my long never-ending list of “books I have to read”. Share below!

Piece of Cake is still my favorite autobiography to this day. I read this book at a time when I desperately needed it. My father had just passed from an overdose and this book gave me the insight in the mind of an addict. I finally understood how he possibly felt during his struggle. What I loved most about this book is that Cupcake Brown rose above the challenge of addiction and turned her life completely around. She was able to escape the death grip of crack and form a life full of love, hope, success and peace. Only 15% of crack addicts kick their addictions for good… So hearing this made me realize she was strong and that God was on her side. I had the privilege of meeting her at a book signing and I shared my story… She was kind and gracious. All in all, Piece of Cake is an excellent read and Cupcake is just as sweet as her name!
