As a Chicagoan, I must admit, I am NOT a fan of The Taste of Chicago. I have to be honest: It’s overcrowded and overpriced. I can’t remember the last time I attended. However, all of that changed this past Thursday. My fellow “electric lady” Janelle Monae was in town with the AP Music Series, and I could NOT turn down my invitation.
They invited myself, along with other members of media to a hospitality tent with food and snacks. We even had V.I.P. seats and passes How cute are these AP Music Series cookies?
If you’ve never seen Janelle Monae live, do yourself a favor and go back to the future with the eclectic, talented beauty. Miss Monae serenaded us with her original songs, along with a few Michael Jackson covers. Her band and background singers are amazingly talented and the dynamics and energy between all of them is pure entertainment. Did I mention she sang my song “Electric Lady”? Yassssssssssssss… The only bummer is I wasn’t really close, and I didn’t get a chance to meet her. Oh well… There’s always next time
P.S. A huge thank you to Illinois Lottery and AP Music Series for this wonderful opportunity!
