As you guys know, earlier in the week, Stevie and I road tripped to St. Louis. A HUGE ‘thank you’ to my friends at KIA, for sending me this Optima Hybrid EX. We were going to initially take the Megabus to STL and pick up the car from there. However, KIA informed us that the Hybrid does excellent with gas, so I decided to give it a shot.
Did this car just stop on me?
Having a car stop on me is nothing new. It”s actually been my life for the past month, but that’s a whole other post. Anywho, I was told to keep my the system on ‘Economy’, to get the best use of my gas. Since this was my first time driving a Hybrid, I thought it stopped on me, the first time it went into ‘energy saving mode’. While I was still or in Park, at times it literally felt like the entire car stopped, but was totally fine when I would press the gas. Welp, it worked. This is how I know:
We drove to STL on ONE tank of gas. We didn’t have to fill up again, until the night before we left to drive back to Chicago. It cost us $39 to fill up. $39!!! Also, after driving back to Chicago on one tank of gas, we STILL had gas to do whatever we wanted. Not bad. Not bad at all.
And now my husband wants a Hybrid
When the team from KIA came to pick up the Optima (sad times), my husband told them we were thinking about purchasing a KIA Optima Hybrid, which was news to me. But hey, I’m TOTALLY for it. More road trips, more fun, less gas. Sounds like a plan.
